Mental treatment sought for woman charged with killing Montour County man after using his bathroom

DANVILLE – Involuntary mental treatment is being sought for a Florida woman accused of slitting the throat of an elderly Montour County man after she used his bathroom.

The competency issue delayed Thursday’s preliminary hearing for Kathleen Susan Reed, 37, of Pembroke Pines, who is charged with homicide, theft and possession of an instrument of crime.

Reed is accused of killing W. John Ditzler, 83, on July 21 in his Bloom Road home, five miles east of Danville.

A court-ordered mental evaluation determined Reed would be unable to participate and assist in her own defense, her attorney Michael P. Dennehey stated in a court filing.

However, Dr. Richard E. Fischbein, a psychiatrist, believes her capacity or competency to stand trial could be restored with medications, therapy and placement in a state mental health forensic unit, Dennehey pointed out.

District Attorney Angela Mattis had revealed following Reed’s arrest that she had

Oklahoma Teacher Allegedly Sexually Assaulted 4-Year-Old Girl In Daycare Bathroom, Arrested

An Oklahoma pre-school teacher was taken into custody Monday for allegedly sexually abusing a four-year-old girl.

The accused, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Ribertone, allegedly sexually assaulted the child in a bathroom at Childcare Network daycare four months ago when no one was around.

The daycare issued a statement Tuesday saying, “During the summer, we were notified of concern about a staff member at Childcare Network #202 in Oklahoma City. The safety and well-being of the children we serve is our top priority.”

“Our management immediately began an internal investigation. The teacher involved in this incident was suspended without pay upon notice of the concern and has been terminated. We notified the proper authorities and are cooperating fully with the investigation. We follow all state and federal requirements when hiring our employees, which include state and federal background checks,” the statement added.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services was made aware

What’s the Most Unhygienic Thing I’m Doing in the Bathroom Without Realizing It?

People do so many unhygienic things in the bathroom that it’s honestly kind of hard to pick the worst. If you aren’t closing your shower curtain and liner after a shower, you’re trapping moisture on it, giving mold and bacteria a place to hang out. If you aren’t washing your bathmat regularly — and who does that? — all the water that drips off and falls into it turns the mat into bacteria condos. And god forbid you ever, ever flush your toilet with the lid open, unless you want to spray an imperceptible but far too real mist of the water in the bowl in a six-foot radius around the toilet. Oh, if there’s anything else in the bowl when you flush? It gets sprayed, too. Hope you keep your toothbrush at least seven feet away.

However, the most unhygienic thing you do in your bathroom involves the

Man faces charges after ‘accidental’ shooting in McDonald’s

A Blue Springs man has been charged in the shooting death of a 19-year-old at a McDonald’s Monday evening, officials said.

Prosecutors charged Joseph Mayes, 20, with first degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the death of 19-year-old Harry Bowers, of Lee’s Summit, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Blue Springs Police Department responded to the McDonald’s on Highway 7 about 7:15 p.m. Monday on a shots fired call. Bowers was suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Bowers died at a hospital, according to court documents.

A manager at the McDonald’s told officers she is “good friends” with Bowers. She, her boyfriend, Bowers and Mayes were hanging out that evening. She was outside when Mayes ran out of the McDonald’s, saying he “accidentally shot” Bowers, before Mayes ran away, according to court documents.

In his interview, Mayes told police that he was

Snake Catcher Takes Mirror Selfie With Deadly Reptile After Capturing It From Bathroom

Selfies are all the rage now, and it seems a snake, caught from a bathroom in Westville, a town in South Africa, is getting onto the trend. Captured by Snake Catcher Nick Evans, the reptile selfie is now going viral on social media.

Evans caught the “selfie star” from a residence Thursday after the home owner alerted him about the snake in the bathroom.

“The homeowner had heard something moving by her sink. She looked, and saw the snake slithering along, and then it went behind the mirror. She saw the tail sticking out, and wanted to pull it out!” Evans wrote in a Facebook post.

Upon receiving the call from the owner, Evans assumed the snake might be a small non-venomous reptile. However, he was shocked to find a deadly black mamba slithering in the bathroom.

“When I arrived, the snake was tucked up between the wall and a

Want an Inexpensive Decor Update? Try Out These 4 Kitchen and Bathroom Trends for 2021

The hardest-working rooms in a home are the kitchen and bathroom. Both rooms receive a steady flow of traffic, so it’s not surprising that homeowners are always looking for ways to update them and keep the design looking fresh.

But updating your kitchen or bathroom doesn’t need to entail a full-on renovation.

Sure, expanding your kitchen or installing a new bathtub would be exciting, but it’s not exactly the most practical—or affordable—solution for many of us. But the good news is you don’t have to think big to make a big difference.

“In these popular areas of the house, making small changes to finishes can be impactful and change the whole look and feel of the room,” says Gena Kirk, vice president of KB Home Design Studio. Bathroom and kitchen fixtures can include door handles, cabinet pulls, and wall colors.

So if you’re itching for an interior refresh, why

Should You Add a Bathroom to Your House? The Costs and Resale Value, Revealed

If you’re thinking of adding a bathroom to your house, you’re probably wondering whether it’s worth the time and effort. After all, if your entire family’s crammed in one bathroom or otherwise waiting to use the loo, an additional bathroom could ease tensions around the home and (not to be dramatic, but let’s be honest) change your life!

On the other hand, a bathroom renovation will cost a lot. Will it translate into extra value when it comes time to sell your home?

All good questions. Allow us to explain.

How much does adding a bathroom cost?

According to Remodeling magazine’s Cost vs. Value report, a midrange bathroom addition will cost an average of $49,596. An upscale bathroom addition—one with more bells and whistles—will run $91,287.

But the price of a bathroom addition will vary greatly based on where you live and what you want done. Adding a full bath
