POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A former nurse was taken into custody Tuesday, months after he allegedly placed a hidden camera inside a tissue box that was inside a unisex bathroom at 1st Step Behaviorial Health in Pompano Beach.
The Florida Department of Health suspended Davidson Rozier’s nursing license after the camera was discovered earlier this year.
According to an arrest affidavit, an employee cleaning the bathroom discovered the hidden camera on Jan. 11.
Authorities said the camera had been placed inside of a tissue box that had three makeshift holes and paper towels to prop the camera.
Management at the health center notified authorities after reviewing the SD card from the camera and seeing footage of Rozier, 32, setting up the camera, the affidavit stated.
Authorities said Rozier’s face and name tag were clearly visible in the video.
They said the video also shows Rozier using the restroom, in an apparent attempt to make sure that the camera was working properly.
Authorities said the video also showed a male patient using the restroom.
According to the affidavit, Rozier was fired that afternoon via a phone call and when asked “Why?” was told, “We believe you know why.””I understand,” Rozier responded, according to the affidavit.
Management notified the patient who was captured on the camera about the incident and the patient confirmed to detectives that he did not give anyone permission to record him.
Authorities said Rozier was contacted by a deputy on March 3 after a warrant had already been executed for authorities to review the footage.
The deputy said he scheduled a date and time for Rozier to provide a statement to him regarding the incident, however, Rozier never showed up and didn’t answer follow-up phone calls.
He eventually spoke with the deputy on April 28 and said that he had obtained an attorney, who should have contacted the deputy, the affidavit stated. A warrant was ultimately issued for Rozier’s arrest and he was taken into custody Tuesday on a video voyeurism charge.
