A suspect who led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit and allegedly fired at the officers Monday afternoon has barricaded himself in a Sherman Oaks home, CHP officials said.

As of 4 p.m. Monday, the suspect was still inside the home on the 4500 block of Vesper Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Mike Lopez. A SWAT team and crisis negotiators are communicating with the suspect, he said.

Officer Weston Haver, a spokesman for the CHP, said the pursuit began at about 12:57 p.m., when officers pulled over a driver who was speeding in a black Nissan Ultima on the 101 Freeway eastbound at Winnetka Avenue.

ATLANTA — Home Depot is reuniting with former subsidiary HD Supply, buying the company in a deal valued at about $8 billion.

The acquisition will give Home Depot a stronger hand in the contractor and professional side of its business, which is booming during the pandemic, just like its more consumer facing, DIY sales.

HD Supply is a distributor of maintenance, repair and operations products in the multifamily and hospitality markets. Home Depot initially bought HD Supply in 1997, but sold it in 2007 when began to focus more on its retail operations.

Stunned police find chicken living in filthy bathroom during drugs raid

Stunned police found a chicken living in a bathroom as they raided a house in the war against drug dealing.

The officers found the animal clucking in the bathroom after they raided a home in Bristol.

The feathered friend was found perched perched on the bathtub, reports BristolLive.

Its owner, who was being detained by police as part of a drugs enforcement action, kept it as a pet in the bathroom.

The hapless bird was found perched on a bathtub with a sign titled “home sweet home” loosely hanging above the sink.

Universal, Cinemark agree on earlier home release for movies

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Cinemark Holdings Inc <CNK.N> has reached a deal that will allow Comcast Corp’s <CMCSA.O> Universal Pictures to offer its films in U.S. homes as soon as 17 days after they debut in theaters, the companies said on Monday.

The multi-year agreement is similar to one that Universal made earlier this year with AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc <AMC.N>, the world’s largest theater chain, embracing a major shift from traditional movie release patterns.

Under the new agreement, Universal could offer movies for sale via premium video-on-demand after they have played for at least three weekends in theaters, a statement from the companies said. That would shrink the exclusive window a movie plays in cinemas to as short as 17 days rather than the roughly 90 days that has been common practice.
