Trust me, you need an ultrawide. It gives you a lot more room for multitasking. I can have a spreadsheet on one side of the screen and a Chrome tab on the right to reference something else. Or two Chrome tabs side by side. This one from LG has a 2,560 x 1,080 pixel resolution, is VESA mountable if you want to put it on a monitor mount, and uses an IPS panel for nice colors and good viewing angles.
Dell UltraSharp 27-Inch Monitor for $360 ($140 off)
Amazon ($356), Dell
This Dell isn’t as big as the ultrawide, but the 27-inch screen is still large compared to most traditional monitors. You get a slim profile, a sharper 1440 pixel resolution, plus VESA mounting support. There are multiple DisplayPort and HDMI ports, and you can even swivel it into a portrait orientation in case you want to use it
