ALEXANDRIA — This home, designed by architect David A. Block and remodeled by McCarten Design, exudes style and architecture at every bend.

At more than 3,500 square feet, the home sits on the shores of Lake Carlos and features three bedrooms, each with its own en suite.

From the grand foyer, the wall and floor treatments let family and friends know they’re entering a unique space.

The foyer converges with the music room, with its gracefully vaulted ceiling and sitting area, and sets the tone for this one-of-a-kind home.

From the foyer, glimpses of the sunken living room with its built-in furniture and a three-story lakeview window come into view.

The living room gives way to the home’s formal dining room where architectural pillars and the curved flow of the upper-level ceiling become apparent.

Forty feet of floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows line the fireplace room and the adjacent kitchen, creating a stellar flow from the inside to the outside of the home. The windows look out to a lush, green terraced garden with a tree canopy overhead and paver steps that lead to the water.

The fireplace room allows for plenty of relaxed seating and the adjacent kitchen is complete with a seating peninsula. The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and is open to the upper level of the home, creating an airiness and additional areas for filtered light to enter the space.

A four-season porch on the main level is surrounded by windows, allowing for unparalleled views of the lake and the gardens. Wood beam accents complete the room without competing with the natural views.

The master bedroom offers the same attention to detail and the curved floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows provide a treehouse-like atmosphere in the space. The en suite takes advantage of the same open feel and views of nature and the spa-like space offers a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The master bedroom also features a large, walk-in closet with plenty of built-in shelving.

Each bedroom offers its own en suite and the second level is complete with a loft/television area for relaxing in front of the screen.

Outside, nature is the star. The maintenance-free decking was designed to take in the landscape, bending around mature trees that provide an overhead shade canopy that spans the length of the winding deck with multiple seating and entertaining areas.

A paver patio sits outside the sunroom and terraced stairs lead down to the waterfront and culminate in a final deck and seating area close to the water.

This home at 7853 County Rd. 11, Alexandria sits on 150 feet of shoreline and is listed at $975,000 by Lucas Mogenson of Coldwell Banker Crown Realtors.
